Tell us about yourself

Q

Why did you choose your specialty/job role?

A

I chose cardiology as my specialty because it combines complex problem-solving with the opportunity to make a significant, often life-saving, impact on patients’ lives. The cardiovascular system is central to overall health, and I’ve always been drawn to the dynamic nature of cardiac care—ranging from acute interventions to long-term disease management. I also appreciate how the field continues to evolve rapidly with new research and technology, which keeps me intellectually engaged and constantly learning. Most importantly, cardiology allows me to build meaningful relationships with patients and support them through some of their most critical health challenges.

Q

What’s the most interesting/memorable case you’ve been involved in for the SMO service?

A

One of the most memorable cases I managed through the SMO service involved a young patient presenting with frequent palpitations caused by ectopic beats. Initial investigations, including cardiac MRI, revealed progressive myocardial scarring over time. Despite being on appropriate medical therapy, the patient’s symptoms continued to worsen. This raised concern for an underlying inflammatory or infectious process that had not been previously identified. Through the SMO service, we were able to reassess the clinical picture comprehensively and guide the patient toward more targeted investigations. This ultimately led to a clearer diagnosis and a more appropriate management plan. The case underscored the value of specialist input in uncovering missed or evolving diagnoses and highlighted the impact of the SMO service in improving patient outcomes.

Q

What do you most enjoy about working for Teladoc Health?

A

What I enjoy most about working for Teladoc Health is the opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking organization that’s truly transforming the way healthcare is delivered. The ability to provide high-quality care remotely allows me to reach patients who might otherwise face barriers due to geography, mobility, or time constraints. I find it incredibly fulfilling to contribute to a model that emphasizes accessibility, innovation, and patient-centered care. Additionally, being part of a multidisciplinary and collaborative team at Teladoc fosters continuous learning and professional growth, which is both motivating and rewarding.

Q

How do you think patients can benefit from the SMO service?

A

Patients can benefit tremendously from second opinion services like those offered by Teladoc Health. These services provide timely access to expert medical advice, regardless of the patient’s location, which is especially valuable for those living in underserved or rural areas. A second opinion can offer reassurance, clarify complex diagnoses, and present alternative treatment options that may not have been previously considered. It empowers patients to make more informed decisions about their health. Additionally, the convenience and efficiency of SMO service reduces the burden of travel and waiting times, ultimately improving the overall patient experience and promoting better health outcomes.

Q

What is the professional achievement you’re most proud of?

A

I have been appointed as a co-director of the Heart Failure MSc program at City St George’s University do London. This role is particularly meaningful to me because it reflects both my clinical expertise and my commitment to medical education. Being in a leadership position within an academic program allows me to contribute to shaping the next generation of healthcare professionals, ensuring they are well-equipped with the latest knowledge and evidence-based practices in heart failure management. It’s incredibly rewarding to bridge clinical experience with education and to play a part in advancing the field through academic mentorship.

Q

Are you involved in any other organisations or charity work?

A

I work with the European Heart Failure Association (HFA) in multiple committees:

  • Committee member of HFA for Education and Digital Health
  • Committee Member of HFA for Cardio-Oncology
  • Committee Member of HFA for Certification

A

I live in London with my two children, which keeps life both busy and fulfilling. Outside of my professional responsibilities, I enjoy traveling as it allows me to explore new cultures, gain fresh perspectives, and unwind from the demands of daily life. I also make it a priority to stay active and maintain a healthy lifestyle by going to the gym regularly. Fitness not only helps me stay physically strong but also supports my mental well-being and focus, which are essential in both my personal and professional life.
