“I was definitely in need of help due to a trapped nerve issue. After consulting a few doctors and relying on painkillers that weren’t strong enough, I decided to call my GP for an appointment, only to find out it would take three days. Since I work shifts, someone mentioned I could access quicker telephone appointments with a Virtual GP. They recommended the app, which made the process easier.
After navigating a few steps, I secured a telephone appointment for that evening, which was a relief since it was a Monday. I received a call from a doctor around 8:10 PM, and she was incredibly kind. During this appointment, I was able to get a stronger dosage of the painkillers I had been taking. I had my initial appointment on Monday and then another with the AGP on Wednesday, where the GP offered valuable advice on managing my situation with the new medication.
I would have gone to work regardless of my discomfort, but the new painkillers made a significant difference. I was still working but in considerable pain from the trapped nerve issue, which I’m still treating. Sitting comfortably was a challenge and the only relief came from the stronger medication, which helped me function without being overly miserable at work.
Once I understood how to use the app, setting it up was easy and convenient. It was far quicker than I expected than any traditional GP appointment. Without this service, I would have been stuck for two days, struggling with my pain.
I have encouraged my wife to download the app and set it up for my kids. I was impressed by how fast everything was. Although there were some limitations on what the doctor could prescribe, I was able to receive a stronger dose of my current medication, which was my main goal.
If a colleague asks about the service, I tell them to use it. You get to discuss your symptoms with a doctor who guides you on what you might need. The doctor explained how different medications work for nerve issues, including potential side effects. While she couldn’t prescribe certain medications, she did offer a more potent dosage of what I was already taking. This information was reassuring, as knowing about side effects is crucial before making any decisions.
Overall, I was very satisfied with the service. You have nothing to lose; the doctors will tell you what options are available, and if it helps, it’s certainly better than being left without any support. “
