
“I was diagnosed with anxiety a few years ago and have tried a variety of treatments. I started experiencing severe physical symptoms and was considering going back on medication to help manage them. Treatment can take a month to kick in and I needed a prescription first, but it can take a while to be seen by a doctor. Facing a delay to get something I had already taken before—and then having to wait even longer for it to take effect—was uncomfortable and made my anxiety worse.
I am incredibly grateful for everything the NHS has done for me, and I completely understand that services are overstretched and under-resourced. However, I don’t think people should have to reach a crisis point before they’re able to speak with a doctor.
