I am a distinguished professor with significant clinical expertise in Neurogastroneterology and gastrointestinal motility, problems that affect 50% of patients with GI problems and research credentials and published over 500 papers, 10 books and a continuously NIH funded investigator for over 23 years.

 Medicine is my life mission and hobby, although I enjoy time with family, sports and photography.

Why did you choose your specialty/job role?

A

I am a pioneer in the field and 30 years ago there was no interest or research in gastrointetsinal motility and very little known.

What’s the most interesting/memorable case you’ve been involved in for the Second Medical Opinion (SMO) service?

A

There have been several interesting and memorable cases that includes unexplained non cardiac esophageal chest pain, unexplained gas, bloating distension and brain fogginess, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, SIBO, severe constipation, severe stool leakage, and GI motility disorders that remained undiagnosed before consulting me.
