The constant need to challenge our accepted ways of doing things.

Q

Why did you choose your specialty/job role?

A

Interest in the mind rather than the body.

Q

What’s the most interesting/memorable case you’ve been involved in for the Second Medical Opinion (SMO) service?

A

A case of psychosis in which the carers’ aspirations for recovery were difficult to match with the likely clinical outcome and in it was appropriate to limit the extent of further investigation.

Q

What do you most enjoy about working for Teladoc Health?

A

Cross cultural issues in relation to working with diverse health care systems.

Q

How do you think patients can benefit from the Second Medical Opinion (SMO) service?

A

A truly independent (from local resource constraints and established clinical processes) opinion.

Q

What is the professional achievement you’re most proud of?

A

The attachments to struggling services that I have initiated improvements in, demonstrating that change was possible.

Q

Are you involved in any other organisations or charity work?

A

YANA, a rural mental health support charity.
