Tell us about yourself

I am an avid runner, and very much enjoy coaching my kids’ soccer and cross country skiing teams.

Q

Why did you choose your specialty/job role?

A

People fear blindness more than they fear cancerI am proud that I can help many people recover from potentially blinding retinal diseases.

Q

What’s the most interesting/memorable case you’ve been involved in for the Second Medical Opinion (SMO) service?

A

There are several cases that have been previously misdiagnosed, in my opinion.  I am hopeful that my unbiased opinions have helped patients achieve appropriate care and treatment.

Q

What do you most enjoy about working for Teladoc Health?

A

There are numerous benefits to the Second Medical Opinion serviceAn informed second opinion allows patients to get reassurance if their first opinion is correct, or it affords the opportunity to change the diagnosis and treatment plan if the second opinion differs from the first.

Q

How do you think patients can benefit from the Second Medical Opinion (SMO) service?

A

I think that the Opinions can help people come up with good questions and topics of discussion for their treatment teams.

Q

What is the professional achievement you’re most proud of?

A

I am most proud of a book I recently published, entitled “Financial Freedom Rx,” which teaches financial literacy to doctors in every stage of their careerI teach a course of the same title to medical students.
