“It Was a Lifesaver Over the Bank Holiday”: Virtual GP Service

“I first heard about Teladoc Health through my husband’s work. His company provides private medical insurance, and Teladoc is part of that. I didn’t think I’d ever need it — until I got really unwell over a bank holiday weekend.

It wasn’t serious enough to go to A&E, but I didn’t want to call 111 either. I knew I’d be on hold forever, and with two young children at home, I couldn’t manage that. That’s when my husband reminded me about the Teladoc Health service. I signed up straight away.

Booking the Appointment

Even though I was feeling awful, signing up and booking the appointment was really straightforward. Because it was a busy weekend, the next available slot was 1:00 AM — not ideal! But I called Teladoc’s customer service and asked if there was any chance of a cancellation.

They were so polite and helpful on the phone and luckily, a same-day afternoon slot had opened up. I was so relieved.

Seeing the Doctor

The doctor called me right at the start of my appointment window. He was incredibly friendly, really listened, and took the time to understand my symptoms. I’d had the condition before, so I had a good idea what it was — and he agreed. He arranged a prescription straight away.

He explained everything clearly — how I’d receive a link to access the prescription and that my husband could pick it up if needed. It all came through really quickly. He also uploaded notes to my NHS GP, which I thought was brilliant. The whole process was seamless.

What I Would Have Done Without It

Honestly, without Teladoc, I’d have been stuck. I would’ve had to wait until Tuesday to call my GP — that’s two full days of being in pain, while looking after my kids. Or I could have called 111, but that would’ve meant being on hold for ages. Neither option was appealing.

Having this service saved me from all that stress. I spoke to a doctor the same day and started treatment quickly.

I’ve already told people how good it is. It’s fast and easy to use, and every person I spoke to—whether the doctor or customer service—was kind and professional.

If I had to explain Teladoc Health to someone, I’d say it’s a convenient, friendly, and fast way to see a GP when you really need one, without the wait or the stress.”
