Eli Merizian's Story
“I first discovered I had access to virtual physio through my insurance policy. They mentioned there was a virtual medical service I could use—send a message, book an appointment—and that’s how I got started. I was already on a waiting list for an NHS physio, so it felt like a timely option.
For two years, I’d been dealing with this persistent pain in my left hip. It started out of the blue—just one day at work, and then we moved offices, and I noticed it more going up the stairs. I brushed it off at first, thinking it might go away on its own, but the pain stuck around through a move from Newton Abbot to Newquay.
Eventually, I saw my GP, got an X-ray, and was referred to NHS physio. They gave me exercises, but nothing seemed to help. Through one of those sessions, I discovered something significant (via Feldenkrais movement awareness): even a tiny forward movement of my foot triggered the same pain I felt on the stairs. That made me realise it wasn’t pressure-related—it was something deeper.
When I explained all this to the virtual physio, William, he immediately knew which muscle group to target—the adductor muscles. He gave me tailored exercises using resistance bands, a ball to squeeze, and specific stair movements. The change was remarkable. Bit by bit, the pain started to fade. I still get a little twinge, but now I can go upstairs and downstairs without issue. It honestly felt like a miracle.
What struck me most was that William’s approach was different from what I’d had before. The NHS physio had focused on other muscle groups, but William’s advice was spot on. His exercises opened up a new way of thinking for me—not just about treating pain, but about staying active as I age.
I know many people start looking for stair-free homes as they get older. But for me, the stairs have become part of my daily routine and rehab. They’re built-in exercise tools. I use them daily, and William’s support has shown me how much more I can do with what I already have at home.
The sign-up process was incredibly simple, the communication was clear, and I felt supported from the very beginning. If I hadn’t had access to this physio through my insurance, I’d still be searching for answers, trying to figure out what was wrong.”
These sessions didn’t just help with the physical pain—they gave me confidence in my movement again, which means more than I can say.
