“Teladoc’s Expert Mental Health service stopped me feeling so overwhelmed.”

Arthur shares his story

“I’d known about Teladoc’s Mental Health service for about a year, but honestly, I didn’t feel I needed it—until a few weeks ago. At that point, things began to pile up. A mix of work and personal stress left me feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, and unsure where to turn. I realised I couldn’t just push through anymore, and reaching out for help felt like the only way forward toward regaining balance and clarity.

I’m lucky because my team coach is trained in mental health support, so I could talk to her to an extent, but there’s only so much you want to share with someone you work with every day. I needed more.

High praise made me try the service

A colleague had used the Teladoc service several months earlier and spoke highly of it. That gave me the confidence to book a consultation myself.

From the outset, the entire process was seamless. The sign-up was straightforward, and booking an appointment was easy. What I appreciated was having multiple options for appointment times—it made it much easier to fit them around my work schedule. Additionally, the reminders via text and email an hour before the session were extremely helpful. Finding a private therapist can be a daunting task. You don’t know who to trust, their specialisms, or if they’re even taking on new clients. With Teladoc Health, it was all taken care of. I didn’t have to stress about whether it was the right fit—they found the proper support for me straight away.

I worked with Alexandra, and she was fantastic. From the very beginning, she made me feel at ease. She let me talk and express myself freely, and she listened. Then, she helped guide me toward defining some goals for our sessions. It wasn’t just general advice—each session was tailored to the goals I set. She also gave me exercises and tasks to work on between sessions, which helped me stay focused and committed to the process.

Setting a goal and achieving it

By the end of the three sessions, I felt I had achieved my goal. The approach was so personal and thoughtful. I told Alexandra that if I ever need help again, I would 100% come back. But I’m doing great now, thanks to everything we worked through.

Honestly, if I hadn’t had access to this service through work, I don’t think I would’ve sought help. Therapy is expensive, and in this economy, it’s hard to justify spending money on mental health when you’re also thinking about bills, food, and day-to-day life. Additionally, finding the right person outside of a structured service can be challenging. It takes time, and with so many options available, it can be overwhelming.

Teladoc was valuable for me because everything was already in place. I didn’t have to research or second-guess. I just reached out and found the help I needed. And even though Alexandra was excellent, I genuinely feel that anyone in the team would’ve offered the same care and attention.

If I had to sum up Teladoc Health’s mental health support, I’d say this: it’s a short-term, goal-oriented therapy. It’s perfect for anyone feeling overwhelmed or unsure about the next steps in life or work. I’m in a much better place now. I’ve applied what I’ve learnt to my everyday life. I even started volunteering for a charity I never thought I’d have the headspace for. I can honestly say this service has had a real impact on my mental wellbeing and work performance.”
