As the Baton of Hope embarks on its mission to “Stand Up to Suicide” across 20 locations in September and October, uniting communities against this crisis, Kim will have the honour of carrying this powerful symbol of hope, courage, and community.

Our Head of Mental Health, Dr Colin Preece, shared his heartfelt support for this initiative:

“We are incredibly proud that Kim has been chosen to carry the baton of hope. This honour reflects not only her personal dedication but also our shared commitment to tackling the crisis of suicide in the UK. At Teladoc Health UK, we believe that fostering resilience, reducing isolation, and opening up life-saving conversations about mental health are essential steps forward.  Kim’s role in this national movement embodies the hope, courage, and collective action needed to bring change.”

Why This Topic Matters to Kim

“I feel deeply honoured and truly privileged to have been chosen as a Baton Bearer for the Baton of Hope UK Tour. Mental health and suicide prevention are causes that are deeply personal to me. I have witnessed how silence and stigma can isolate people in their darkest moments, and I believe in the power of visibility, compassion, and community to bring hope.

Every life lost to suicide is a tragedy, leaving families and communities devastated. Too many lives are still being lost to this silent crisis. I am carrying the Baton of Hope because I believe that there is always hope, and that together we can ensure no one ever feels they have to struggle alone.  Alongside this honour, I have the privilege of volunteering with We Are Farming Minds, a mental health charity dedicated to supporting the farming community in Herefordshire. Farmers face daily challenges of loneliness, isolation, and pressure, and heartbreakingly, at least one farmer takes their own life every week. We Are Farming Minds was created to raise awareness, provide support, and remind every farmer that they are not alone. Carrying the Baton will be my opportunity to honour those we have lost, to stand in solidarity with those still fighting, and to carry forward a message of hope that has the power to save lives.”
