Our Head of Mental Health Writes: Men’s Health – Keep Up the Momentum

Our Head of Mental Health, Dr Colin Preece, Shares His Reflections on Men’s Health Week 2025.

“I have spent this morning catching up on all the inspiring articles posted during Men’s Health Awareness Week. As the week ends, let’s not let the message fade.

Over the past few days, we have shone a spotlight on the unique challenges men face when it comes to their health—especially around mental wellbeing and seeking support. We have started conversations, shared stories, and encouraged one another to take that first step. And it has made a difference.

But Real Change Does Not Happen in a Week. It Happens When We Keep Going Day by Day, Conversation by Conversation, Decision by Decision.

Let us all commit to carrying this momentum forward. If you checked in with your health this week, keep the habit going. If you opened up about how you are feeling, keep talking. Most importantly, if you are still thinking about reaching out, know that you still can. It is never too late, and you are not alone.

Telehealth is One of the Ways You Can Access Support.

It continues to offer a simple, private, and flexible way to get support, whether it is a GP appointment, mental health care, or advice on staying well. No long waits. No need to explain yourself at the front desk. Just care, on your terms.

This week reminded us that looking after your health does not make you weak—it makes you strong enough to show up for your family, your friends, and most importantly, yourself.

Let us collectively make that strength part of everyday life, not just for one week, but all year round.”
