IWD2026: Giving to Gain with Kim McCready

Author: Kim McCready, Director of Clinical Operations, Teladoc Health UK

To celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD) 2026, we’re shining a spotlight on some of the incredible women who help make virtual healthcare possible every day at Teladoc Health UK.

This year’s theme, “Give to Gain,” highlights the power of generosity, mentorship, collaboration and support in helping women thrive. By giving our time, knowledge and encouragement, we create opportunities not just for individuals, but for entire communities.

Today, we’re proud to introduce Kim McCready, Director of Clinical Operations, whose leadership and passion for people help drive excellence across our clinical services.

Meet Kim McCready, Director of Clinical Operations

Based in Herefordshire, I bring a wealth of experience across both the public and private sectors. My career began in Human Resources within the local authority, but my professional journey has since spanned multiple disciplines including organisational development and training, project management, operations, service delivery, governance, compliance and quality assurance.

My qualifications include:

  • Management and Leadership Degree
  • Level 7 Executive Diploma in Strategic Management & Leadership
  • Level 5 Diploma in Management & Leadership
  • Level 3 Certificate in Personnel Practice (HR)

As Director of Clinical Operations, I provide leadership and operational management for clinical services, ensuring the highest standards of patient care while supporting teams to deliver exceptional service every day.

A Passion for People and Purpose

For me, working in healthcare is about making a meaningful difference.  I thrive in fast-paced, ever evolving environments and I value the opportunity to positively impact both patients and colleagues.  One of the aspects I am most passionate about is supporting staff and their development.

I believe that when organisations invest in their people providing the right balance of challenge, support, professional development and work-life balance – employees are empowered to achieve their full potential and find genuine job satisfaction. One of the most rewarding parts of my role is seeing my teams grow and succeed, and I am incredibly proud of their achievements and the impact they make for patients every day.

This people first approach reflects the spirit of “Give to Gain” – when leaders invest in their teams, everyone benefits.

A Career Moment That Made History

One memorable thing in my career has got to be planning and delivering Covid-19 services during the height of the pandemic – from setting up red, amber & green hubs and home visiting, to the rollout of the Covid Vaccination programme which will go down in history! One service was a ‘super green clinic’ which offered a safe environment for the most vulnerable ‘shielding’ patients to receive non-covid related medical interventions e.g. medications, blood tests and essential injections. This service also won a prestigious national Nursing Times Award. I remain immensely proud of what my teams and I achieved during this historic moment for healthcare.

The Teladoc Health Culture

One of the most rewarding parts at Teladoc Health is our culture. We have hard working, talented, passionate and inclusive leaders and staff providing a wide range of high quality innovative healthcare services and it’s such a pleasure being part of the Teladoc Health family.

International Women’s Day: “Give to Gain”

When reflecting on this year’s IWD theme, “Give to Gain,” I believe it represents the importance of generosity and collaboration – it’s about recognising that when individuals and organisations actively support women by sharing knowledge, offering mentorship and creating opportunities – everyone benefits.

Giving isn’t a subtraction – it’s intentional multiplication.

When women are supported to succeed, the ripple effect strengthens teams, communities and industries.  When women thrive, we all rise.

Supporting Mental Health in Farming Communities

Outside of my role at Teladoc Health, I am deeply committed to supporting mental health in rural communities.  I am Trustee for a Herefordshire based charity “We Are Farming Minds.”  The charity focuses on raising mental health awareness and providing vital support to farmers, including:

  • A 24/7 mental health helpline
  • Mental health training for individuals and professionals in the farming community
  • Funding for professional counselling
  • Social events designed to reduce isolation and strengthen community connections

Through this work, we help ensure farmers have access to the support they need.

Life Beyond Work

Outside of my professional and charity work, I enjoy spending time with my family and embracing rural life.

I help my husband run his forestry business,  enjoy watching my daughters play football and love taking my Czechoslovakian Wolfdog and Border Terriers for long walks across the beautiful countryside.  I also help out on our family farm whether lumping bales of hay around or lambing during Easter.  I especially love spring watching the baby lambs jump and dance around in the sunshine.

Proud Moments and Personal Inspiration

My proudest professional achievement has to be my entire career journey.  Every role and opportunity has contributed to the knowledge, experience and leadership skills I bring to my role today.

I am especially grateful to the people who supported me along the way – particularly my Mum, who has always been both a role model and my biggest supporter.

As a mother myself, I hope to pass that inspiration forward.  I am raising two daughters to be strong, independent women, encouraging them to develop strong work ethics, morals and values.

My message to them is simple but powerful:  With hard work, passion, persistence and determination, anything is possible!!

This International Women’s Day, Kim’s story reminds us that when we support, empower and invest in others, we all grow stronger together. That’s the true meaning of “Give to Gain.”
